The original three Charmed Ones are deceased after sacrificing their lives to save the world. They left behind Paige, who Piper bequeathed something very special to on her death: a child. Two months pregnant, Piper passed her unborn daughter on to Paige, being unable to bear the idea of the one thing she'd wanted most in life to die alongside her.
Seven months later, Paige gave birth to Melinda Halliwell, a healthy and feisty child with the power to increase or decrease biological or physical time; that is she could make you old or young, or unburn an incense stick. Melinda aged herself and has two forms she tends to stick with: one of a twelve-year-old girl, and one of an older woman, around twenty-six. Leo is the proud father of said child.
Paige has a lot of responsibility these days. Unfortunately, she lost her life before even her sisters did at the apocalypse. Unlike them, however, Paige was chosen to return as a whitelighter. It was as this she continued working towards realising her dream of running a magic school for witches and other magical beings, and opened the school only months after losing her sisters. The school is still very new and has many operational difficulties, but it also only has a few students so taking care of it isn't so hard.
Currently, though, Paige has found the strain too much. She struggled with Melinda, her marriage to Azura Shamshay, the death of her sisters, the responsibility of the school and the expectations of her from everybody she knows. She appears to be suffering from postnatal depression and has had her whitelighter powers revoked temporarily. Leo has taken over the running of the school, and other than Paige's extended break which has allowed her and Azura to move back into the Halliwell manor, it's business as usual.
