Title: OT Discussion
kaytee83 - October 12, 2004 10:14 AM (GMT)
Okay, since I can't stop breaking my own rules (I'm very passionnate about my Zelda :D) I thought it was about time we had our own off-topic chit-chat thread. However, guys, keep it spam free. The thread till follow a topic, and if one tires you can introduce another, but no shit like "my cat's breath smells like cat's food" in the middle of talking about the Presidential election, mkay?
Paz - October 12, 2004 12:27 PM (GMT)
My cat's breath smells like cat's food. She's outside at the moment. I can see her through the window.
*points and laughs at*
I'll bring her in cause it's cold and she's an old fogey now. She'll die.
Anyways....what?
Mmmm, I love me some Zelda! Hoorah! Ocarina of Time was like the best game ever.
Shinji - October 12, 2004 01:49 PM (GMT)
I'll finish OoT one day... One day... lol!
I reckon Wind Waker was kinda easy... But the new Zelda that's coming onto GameCube, the graphics looks amazing! :D
But yes, back to OoT...
Anyone use the three spells much that's gotten from the three Goddesses?
I think it's Din's Fire, Nyrul's Love and Fiona's Wind?
Oh I don't know hwo to spell 'em now. Din's Fire I use most out of the three. So I know that the best.
And don't we all just love the Sages and their Tunes?
Sarai's Song is the catchiest but the Sun Song's got the best rhythm, and one I use the most. Ah, day. Ah, night.
The Powers That Be - October 13, 2004 10:26 AM (GMT)
I would be pathetic and correct you but I'm trying to look cool. WW was crap, enough said. And Paz... that's it, I'm adding to your warning level for that!
Luke - October 20, 2004 03:48 PM (GMT)
Could you explain to me the basics of Zelda so that I can at least pretend to be interested? Like a background story or whatnot.
kaytee83 - October 20, 2004 03:59 PM (GMT)
It's a computer game that's been around for many, many years. Zelda's had loads of different games, on every Nintendo platform. It's about a boy, usually called Link, who has to do all this cool shit... it's an RPG basically. It involves sword fighting, horse riding, magic battles, ghosts, power, ah, it's fucking great so it is. The best ever Zelda game (Zelda is the princess who of course you have to rescue ;)) is Ocarina of Time, on the Nintendo 64. You really have to play this game to understand the sheer magic and wonder it brings. The storyline is fantastic, as are the towns and temples you visit, and not to mention the amazing score! Mm, Zelda music. The sheer scale that a Zelda game operates... it's just incredbly amazing. Buy it. Buy a Nintendo and this game. It will make you happy.
Luke - October 20, 2004 04:02 PM (GMT)
Ooh. Shiny. And aw. All of this talk about Zelda has generated advertisement links (hee).
You know, come to think of it. I think I had that game on Super Nintendo ten years ago.
Demerous - October 20, 2004 04:08 PM (GMT)
I can't remmber exactly but...
You start off as a little boy called Link with a fairy named Navi, living in a village with all these kids that are born from the forest of something (I told you I can't remember).
Anyways, you find out your not really a forest kid and you leave (which is forbidden to forest kids), but before you leave your friend gives you a occarina.
Then you go our and help random people and meet Zelda the princess.
Then you find out the princess can sense something evil (a guy called Gannondorf) and you have to stop him while you age and along the way, get a horse!
(Sorry about the spelling of the names).
That's the basis of the game...
If you want more, you'll have to ask some of the other guys as that is really all I can remember.
You should pick it up if you have a N64, it would cost $5-10 at the most.

Kokori Village.

The friend is Sara, whom is also later awoken as the Forest Sage.

Random people yes.... .-. Meet Zelda, oh yeah.

I still can't get that horse. I can't beat Malon as his horse riding... meh... And the Triforces react, Ganondorf stole Zelda away but she leaves you the Orcarina of Time.

I have OoT on GameCube along with MasterQuest. I like the Spirit Temple the best, the most challenging on ever... ._. I hate Lord Jubjub's belly, it's aqbsolutely freaky inside... It looks gross.
Demerous - October 20, 2004 04:41 PM (GMT)
Haha, thanks for clearing all that up, Shinji.
I didn't know you could get OoT on GameCube?! Did they re-release it as a disc?
Nope, the Water Temple is the most challenging. ^_^
Shinji - October 20, 2004 04:45 PM (GMT)
When I brought Wind Waker, the Wind Waker box came with OoT and OoT:MQ as well.
So yeah... It's on GameCube.
I love playing Sara's Song. The tune is so cool.
Dou dou dou. Dou dou dou....
Paz - October 20, 2004 09:49 PM (GMT)
It's Saria. Not Sara.
Anyways, OoT is actually the best game in the whole world.
The water temple is so damn hard, it took me for ever to get through it. I loved Epona (the horse), she was teh kewlies. I also loved how you started as a child and then when you pulled the master sword from it's pedestal, you turned into adult Link.
It was groovy seeing all the old places from his childhood all changed and stuff. Oh the tragedy that Zora's Domain was frozen over.
Some places, like the shadow temple and the desert colossus were so damn spooky. That's one thing about Zelda, you just get immersed in it. It's amazing.
Getting all the songs rocked, and getting the sages. The swords. Tunics. Boots. All that crap-o-rama. Oh it was good.
Lee - October 20, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
I liked OoT but after a while I just stopped playing. I had played and played and played and I was in the water temple and then I bought a guide. Before I got it I left the water temple because I was stuck. When I got back I had messed up the water levels with Zelda's Lullaby. So it was a HUGE mess. I tried to retrace my steps and it worked some. I ended up fighting Shadow Link and from there it's all a blur. I got my Gamecube and started to play it instead. Good game though.
Shinji - October 21, 2004 01:29 AM (GMT)
GO the Megaton Hammer!! Luv that weapon
Just a lil tad slow, but veeery fun to use. Heh... Navi was funny enough
I rather liked the Forest Temple, it was fun. The Shadow Gan was kinda wicked, the whole baseball thing and all.
The Zora Tunic's the best out of the three. Goran was okay, I don't like the red as much though. The Bomb Flowers are always a favourite of mine.
The Song of Storm can make indoor rain. =)
The Shadow Monkey was a lil difficult. I had to use the Ice Arrows to freeze his hands and then use the Lens of Truth. It could have been worst.
The Water Temple Boss, it was annoying. I kept missing with my hookshot...
Demerous - October 21, 2004 07:34 AM (GMT)
Wow, all the memories are coming back to me.
Good times, I think I might play it again... I haven't in at least 3 years.
Ugh, I think I might have to buy a GC for the next Zelda too...
Sor those who haven't seen what the new Zelda looks like click
here and
here.
Vince - October 21, 2004 03:46 PM (GMT)
Pfft, everyone knows Final Fantasy is the best set of games in the world. Not to mention best RPGs in the world. I'd like to see Link try and fight Quistis and Shiva. BAM! Little green clothing guy goes down!
Petunius - October 21, 2004 10:48 PM (GMT)
Mmmm Quistis. Whip-y dominatrix goodness. Ahem. Yup, FF definitely would kick Zelda's ass. Quistis, Selphie and Shiva. Now that's a dream team.
Demerous - October 22, 2004 05:48 AM (GMT)
I'm never playing another Final Fantasy games after having played IX.
What the hell were they trying to pull off when they made that piece of shit?!
The Powers That Be - October 22, 2004 10:45 AM (GMT)
KT: Link plays magic tennis with his sword. He could kick anyone's ass. And has pointy ears. I've played both FF and Zelda. Zelda wins.
Zelda > FF
Pwnzored!!! :o
Vince - October 22, 2004 11:45 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, magic tennis, thats great AND useful. Only then I remember that supernatural sports aren't useful.
And ff9 rocked, the fmv sequences, the music, the story, [most of] the characters (Amarant was stupid and I didn't get why he was even there. Plus he looked weird), it was just damn good.
Not on the same epic scale as ff8, but that game was just amazingly super.
Demerous - October 22, 2004 02:48 PM (GMT)
I loved ff9 but towards the end it started getting ridiculous.
The whole 'nowhere space castle' place in Gaia, finding out your a Genome from Terra and Kuja's brother or something... Ugh!
I agree the graphics and FMV sequences were great (especially the one where all the silver dragons are flying everywhere!)
I don't think the good parts justify it being called an excellent game though.
Zelda was great, it didn't rely on amazing graphics and, I think, real time battles are more fun.
I agree with KT...
Zelda > FF
Shinji - October 22, 2004 02:55 PM (GMT)
I played the two GBC Zelda too.
The Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. Those were great games too.
The new Zelda's got great gfx and yeah, would be better then ff soon.
And Zelda's Nintendo started and FF is of PS/PS2/PC
And OoT, yeah, when he pulls the sword out, he turns big boy. :P That bit's fun to do.
The whole Sages thing, Sages awakening, original storyline no?
In WW, you can see the glass panels in the main hall area underneath the statue. The six sages were featured there too. In old Hyrule.
It's also cool like in OoT Zelda throws the sword back to you, and in WW, she fires the light arrows for you to reflect off your mirror shield at Mr. Evil.
Ah, good times. I should take out OoT to play after I finish my exams... Oh yeah. FF is good, but it just doesn't have the same excitment and thrill that Legnd of Zelda offers.
So...
FF < Zelda
kaytee83 - October 27, 2004 11:25 AM (GMT)
Writing essays suck. Dammit, I just wrote one last week! Now you want another? And I have a test on Monday? That's 25% of my coursework grade? Bite me, Uni.
How's everyone else?
Luke - October 27, 2004 11:36 AM (GMT)
I'm old but that's besides the point.
Lirie - October 27, 2004 11:45 AM (GMT)
I have a test on Bible Studies for which I have to learn 16 chapters alone. Woe... and my first socialogy test on Monday, so yeah... bah!
kaytee83 - October 27, 2004 02:00 PM (GMT)
Bible Studies.
You're worse off.
But then again, is it worth 25%? Mmhmm girlfriend *snap snap*
Patience Brookhaven - October 27, 2004 02:04 PM (GMT)
I have to take a group of kindergardeners on a field trip tommrow...after which I have to go to my OTHER job untill 11.

Yes, I am better off. And umm, no... it is 50% of this semester's grade. Mmhmm *snap snap*pause*wail* Wwwhhyyy, ooohhhh wwwhhhyyy???
On another subject: When I think about little kids the word 'stomp' pops in my mind. I wonder why... >)
Patience Brookhaven - October 27, 2004 02:42 PM (GMT)
Kina creeps into mine too after the eighth million "MMMMMMMMMsssssssss Haaaaaaannnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiieeeee He hit me!" I just wanna say "Yes he did...and if you don't sit down now I'm gonna do the same."
Shinji - October 27, 2004 03:27 PM (GMT)
rofl...
I'd so wanna teach Secondary rather then Primary. I don't work toooo well with little kids. And in tertiary, they seems to be too smart. Smarter then you. ;P
If I get in, I might end up teaching Secondary mathematics. lol....
And on the note. I have finished nearly all my exams. One more to go!!
And then I can see about finishing OoT... =|
Lirie - October 27, 2004 03:52 PM (GMT)
You want to be a math teacher? O_o
*turns away*stick her hand into your face* Talk to the hand cause the face ain't listening... ugh!
kaytee83 - October 27, 2004 03:55 PM (GMT)
You want to teach secondary kids? Oh Shinji, I despair! That's when they become cheeky little bastards that get wide and just need such a good slap. Stupid schemey brats.
Luke - October 27, 2004 03:56 PM (GMT)
Mmm... children.
KT, do you have the children seasoning with you? I just ran fresh out.
kaytee83 - October 27, 2004 03:57 PM (GMT)
I don't eat kids. Indigestion.
Luke - October 27, 2004 03:59 PM (GMT)
What about babies? Granted that they are a bit fattening...
Shinji - October 27, 2004 04:00 PM (GMT)
O.O
Well, that is if I don't get into the Arts and media course I want to do at Uni, and if I don't get into that then my enxt option is Interior design, then if that doesn't work I try for Architecture. But if that fails too then I'll do teaching.
I SHOULD be able to get a high enough mark to at leats do teaching... ._.
But secondary isn't THAT bad. Tertiary, they think they're smarter then you. Most of them are mature people, but meh, I don't think if I teach, I can stand the 3rd level pressure.
Primary... Meh no. Too difficult. Kids scream too much =|
Secondary looks to be the best. And Maths in secondary is much more fun doing Trigo and Projectile Motions. But I don't think I'll be doing University Maths any further then the highest unit I do in high school.
Yes, they get schemey and sometimes you'd so want to slap them and smack them. But I have (abit) of self control... But that's always fun. Teacher terrorising the students...
kaytee83 - October 27, 2004 04:00 PM (GMT)
Anything under fourteen is pretty much guaranteed 'teh sukc'. I hate babies, I hate children, I hate angsty or just plain asshole teenagers, and I hate people in general.
Patience Brookhaven - October 27, 2004 04:06 PM (GMT)
I like the younger ones...hence my working with kindergarden...I subbed for seventh grade once...they broke the window, knocked down the lockers, ripped up the curtians and blinds, and when I told them to sit down and shut up one little brat had the nerve to ask "Who the fuck do you think you are?". *Sigh* I kinda left her crying when I got done with her. As for the rest of them...they had an assembly and I got permission from the principal to make them stand up infront of everyone and they had to suck their thumbs. You know at that age that had to be the worst thing I could of ever done to them *evil* I told them (in front of the whole school) that I minored in theatre...and I hate for people to "half-act"...and that if they wanted to act like babies I was gonna make sure that they did it all the way.
*Passes Luke the children seasoning.*
Just make sure you don't over eat...like you said...fattening...goes to the hips.
Lirie - October 27, 2004 04:12 PM (GMT)
Kids make nutritious snacks >)
Luke - October 27, 2004 04:13 PM (GMT)
Great. Now, I can't eat children anymore. Thank you for ruining my favorite delicacy.
