::Past Azura is thrown in a cell and left to rot... for a while.::

::Jazza gets permission to visit her sister, then goes to look at her through the bars of the cell she's in.::

"Hey..."

::Azura looks up from the bench she's sitting on and swiftly averts her gaze.::

"Az, I..."

(I'm sorry.)

(Are you going to tell them the truth?)

(I'll get you out of here.)

(That's not what I asked.)

(Just hold tight, okay? I swear, I'll get you out.)

::Gritting her teeth, Azura sobs suddenly. She puts her arms over her face.::

(Hey, don't cry...)

::Now she laughs, a choking one.::

"Don't cry? Jasmine... you..."

::She glares at her sister venomously.::

(You betrayed me and lied about me and now... have you any idea what is going to happen to me?)

(I said I'd get you out.)

::Jasmine now looks around furtively.::

(I should go.)

"Don't you dare leave me in here!"

"Az, calm down. Please!"

(Oh my god. What have I done?)

"Don't you leave me in here to be punished for something you did!"

::Jasmine suddenly sends a psychic shock at her sister.::

::Azura yelps and bends double, clutching her head. Her thoughts all jumble together, becoming a mess.::

(I didn't want to do that.)

::Jasmine sighs.::

(Now... hang on tight. I'll get you out.)

::With that, she leaves.::

::Slowly, Azura's cohesion returns. Seeing her sister is gone, she collapses into tears. What if Jasmine can't get her out? Why isn't she telling the truth about what happened? Why did she do it? The prisoner can do nothing else but wait.::

::Nobody notices Aurellia when she appears beside Azura.::

::Except Azura, who jumps up and runs to the bars of her cell, back against them.::

"Don't be afraid. I'm here to help you."

"Who are you? What-"

(That's a bit rude...)

"How did you get in?"

"Magic. It's okay. I know you're familiar with at least some magic energy. The bond you share with your sister, for one."

::Azura clenches her jaw at the mention of Jasmine.::

"You know, two hundred years from now, you and Jasmine's future selves are cousins."

"... future?"

"That's where I'm from. And I've come here to offer to take you back with me. To save your life. You're going to hang for this crime, you know."

"It wasn't even me that did it!"

"So you'd prefer if Jasmine died?"

"N-no! I-"

::Azura looks around, wondering what kind of trick this is. She starts crying, tears sliding down her cheeks. She doesn't want either of them to die. Even though what Jasmine has done to her is horrifying and so wrong, she loves her sister.::

"In the future, you have many close friends and a beautiful lover."

::This isn't making any sense to Azura. She covers her face with her hands and turns away.::

"Wouldn't it be easy to just switch places with your future self? You could take over her life and be happy in the future, and the future you would be here. And she has committed murder. She would deserve it."

"Stop! Stop talking! I don't understand!"

::Pacing now, Azura wrings her hands and whimpers in distress.::

"What're you talking about?"

(Oh, for crying out loud.)

"Look. Reincarnation exists. When you die, here, from being hanged, your soul will pass into another body being born into the world. The essence inside you now has lived before, and it will live again. I have come from a time when your soul lives in another body. My offer is to let you swap places with that body so she fulfils your destiny here, and you hers there."

"But she hasn't done anything."

"Neither have you. Someone has to die here, Azura. Would you rather it was you, who has your whole life ahead of you, or another version of you? You're the same person in essence, Azura, just different consciousnesses."

::Azura frowns, still struggling to understand what the woman is telling her.::

"Can I not just come with you and leave it at that?"

"I'm afraid that's not possible. Azura Pheobbers died in Adelaide in December 1836. It is not in our power, nor is it our will, to change the past. If you switch with the future Azura, then Azura Pheobbers will still have died in 1836 and there will not be any drastic change or effect on the future. So you have a choice: it's you or her."
