Title: Scrying

Book Of Shadows - November 27, 2003 11:09 PM (GMT)
If you've got a map and a crystal, you can give scrying a shot. Hold the crystal above the map and slowly move it across, from left to right, top to bottom. Take your time and have patience, for the crystal may take a while to find what you're looking for.

In almost every situation, you will be looking for the location of a person. While scrying, you must state clearly the name of the person you are looking for, even if your character does not know your name. If they don't know the name, then don't put it in direct speech - put it in the actions of your character, for example:

::Character slowly drags the crystal through the air above the map, concentrating fully, and hoping that the location of desired person will be found.::

This is so the map knows who its looking for! If you don't give a name, The Powers cannot give a location because they don't know who you're looking for - it's as simple as that!

Now onto the techincal part. You're scrying, you've said the name, and you're waiting for an answer - now what?

Well, for one thing, you let the map do the work for you. You do not post with the result of your scry. If it is meant to work, then the map will reply with a separate post with the results. This could either be "Could not find location" or "Character is located here" with a link to the character's current location, and you can then make your own decision as to what to do next.

That's pretty much all there is to scrying. It might not always work, but it's incredibly helpful when it does! Keep your crystals clean and good luck!
