Title: Post Quality

Paz - January 30, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
It has been recently observed that the quality of posts really has declined around here at A Charmed World. Now, I don't mean posting format and grammar and all that, though they should be kept a close eye on, but instead I'm referring to the actual content of posts.

We're all guilty of quickly knocking out posts and RPing quickly, replying a line or two to a character we're currently interacting with, but it's time to begin to build up the quality of posts once again. We need to remember that this is a Role Playing Game site, and thus what we write adds to the experience. Now, there's no minimum sentence count being enforced or anything, but it would be really good if you could start to build up more within your posts. Describe what's going on. Because all we have are the words we use it's important to paint a picture of the scene, using descriptive vocabulary to build the environment and atmosphere. Any of the really good posts that you see around contain a lot more detail than the standard post, and this is what makes them better.

We, the staff, are happy to say that we too post quick replies without putting too much into them, and sometimes that's what the situation requires, but for a majority of the time there should be a lot more description going on. If we could all keep an eye on this and begin to build quality posts, then it'll be fine. If the posting continues to be sub-par then a minimum word count may come into effect, or something of the like. This is a site where the audition process allows us to only bring in some of the better RP'ers. Show us your talent and help to make the board better for all the users.

Thanks. Any on-topic comments, feel free to post.

Good post, Paz.

I'm awful for this. I assume everyone knows my characters as well as I do and just know what they look like, what they sound like, etc when they're saying/doing stuff. But I will give this whole 'trying' thing a shot... not making any promised, though. ;)

I jest. Naturally the staff are all going to be model members now - but what else is new? :D don't stress, though. I'm sure we all know the effect of a one-word post every now and then - but let's make sure that such things are done for effect and not out of laziness. I'm lookin' at you, Andrea!
