Title: VOTE: Reopening

kaytee83 - December 7, 2007 09:09 PM (GMT)
Hopefully you all received the email and are coming on to cast your vote. I'm just looking to gauge how many members would be interested in the site becoming active again. If you have any comments to make along with your vote, please post them and we can discuss anything you want to talk about.

Luke - December 7, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
Too bad I don't have access to that e-mail address innymore...

Seriously, though, I'm not sure what I'd ultimately choose in the end. It had a nice sendoff and I guess I might participate should you bring this place back, but I wouldn't pressure you to reopen on the same token.

Dante - December 7, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
I say yes. Though it's up to you. I don't want it to hold you back or anything.

Hawke - December 7, 2007 09:45 PM (GMT)
I'd say yes. This place is... well, it's a lot of things. That's why it'd be great if it came back.

Sera - December 7, 2007 10:01 PM (GMT)
I love ACW to death, so my answer's yes. However, I'm not entirely sure that I'll be able to devote as much time to it as before. I know that I would take part again, though, if you were to open it.

kaytee83 - December 7, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
Damn thing won't let me see who voted what. Bah! Screw your privacy!

That's 3 yes and 4 don't know. I can guess what you lot did but there are two mystery voters we don't know about...

Carys - December 7, 2007 10:12 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure. I'd love to have ACW back again but (if I can be frank...) I'm not completely convinced it would be all that it was... it sort of feels to me like ACW has had its time and I don't know that if you brought it back after finishing it so well it would work again? Not down to anyone not being committed enough or anything, but... I dunno.

Also I'd (probably) have absolutely no spare time for it in January, and possibly not for months after that. On the other hand, I'd probably make time for it cause it matters so much!

Anyway, that's my rambly way of saying 'I don't know' but also probably yes...

kaytee83 - December 7, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
Thanks Suzy. That's a good point about it not being the same.

It would be different. Mainly because of the whole magic school gig, which I would be planning to downplay as much as possible (though it would be present of course).

I don't personally think that it'll be that much different in that respect, though. As you're aware, ACW has always tended to be more character-based than anything else, and I don't think I've 'lost' any of the characters. It just takes a little while to get back into them and then it's there. It's still my wacky ripped-off ideas coming out, except perhaps the one I have in mind to open is a bit more of a wtf  mindscrew than usual (this is possible?) with my wacky blow-Carys-off-a-bridge sadistic sense of humour.

Then again, I could suck :P

Patience Brookhaven - December 7, 2007 11:37 PM (GMT)
I voted yes, doubt my vote counts, but I'd love to see it re-opened. Even if I can't play, it would be so much fun to keep up with the characters and storylines. You always put so much into your part of everything...are you sure you're up for it again? I'd be happy to help in any way.

Lirie - December 8, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
Bring Lirie back! She was the kewlies!

And yeah, I'd love a break from reality in exchange for lovlier pastures of ACWian San Fran. I still kinda feel I've been ripped off by it closing before I had the chance to escape army and resubmerge in it.

It was addictive once. I hope it can become so again.

Ben - December 9, 2007 04:38 AM (GMT)
Yeah, it'd be great for the site to re-open.

Lily - December 9, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
I voted "I don't know", because, well, I don't.

Chloe - December 9, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
Jesus Christ. I went to college so I could get my own freaking computer so I could go on ACW and then BAM! It's gone.

Waste of $20,000.

Julie - December 9, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
JULIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Azura - December 9, 2007 07:05 PM (GMT)
I'm a yes, while I'm in Finland and not studying per say, I do have the time. If you're definitely up for it and such like then... why not?

Paz - December 10, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm down for a yes. It's tragic, but as much as I was trying to slowly wean myself off RPGs and stuff, if ACW was back, I would be so happy to join in. I'm not sure how much it would be the same, and I do wonder how you'd contrive everyone back to life (or if you would at all), but see! I'm already pondering the possible storylines!

I'm so a yes. You've got me all excited now, Kit. If this is just false hope, then... damn your eyes! Yes. Yes, please!

The Powers That Be - December 10, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
So... who wants to donate towards the costs for the domain name?

Paz - December 10, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
How much is it, first?

The Powers That Be - December 10, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
To renew the one we have with who we're with, they want £55 for three years.

However I've been looking around and .com is £14 for two years - that's just an initial search though. On top of that, 10 years of .com is £60... heh... that's just me wanting that though.

I'd like to keep .net but waiting til this runs out and buying again could be risky.

Lirie - December 10, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
Do you have Western Unions in Scotlum? I don't know how else to send the money =\

The Powers That Be - December 10, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
Aww, yeah we do but I don't want to take anybody's money so never mind!

Paz - December 10, 2007 03:48 PM (GMT)
Well £14 for two years as a .com is good!

Get it!

Lirie - December 10, 2007 03:59 PM (GMT)
QUOTE (The Powers That Be @ Dec 10 2007, 04:57 PM)
So... who wants to donate towards the costs for the domain name?

Did my English deteriorate so much that I misunderstood that?

The Powers That Be - December 10, 2007 04:01 PM (GMT)
Heh I just suck at taking money off people :P nm I'll manage to get it myself.

Hawke - December 10, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
Don't be silly. Two pounds each - that's 5 bucks - is manageable for most. Do you have paypal?

Lirie - December 10, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
Yeah, two pounds is nothing, and if we have the opportunity, why not?

Julie - December 10, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
See Kit? I told you people would do it. Now do the paypal donation you bleeding moron.

Patience Brookhaven - December 10, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
I'll totally help pay. Just message me with teh details.

*Edit*

And don't do that whole "pay for it myself" thing. I played here for two frackin years, it's the least I can do.

Chloe - December 10, 2007 06:52 PM (GMT)
And I haven't been here for well over a year but I'm definitely willing to pitch in a few bucks.

The Powers That Be - December 10, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
Okay I feel guilty about this.

ONLY IF YOU REALLY WANT TO, my Paypal account is my usual email address. kaytee83@hotmail.com

If you are wanting to donate, there is no set amount so just whatever you want/can spare should go in. And obviously all will go towards the longest period of time I can purchase the new domain for.

I'm not sure if that means we'll remain at .net or switch to .com. Is anybody fussed either way?

Julie - December 10, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
Not at all.

Lirie - December 10, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
I want .com. It's what all the other cool kids are wearing.

Now, Western Union works with addresses, right? *toddles off, wondering

Julie - December 12, 2007 12:41 AM (GMT)
Do we have enough yet?

Azura - December 12, 2007 07:03 AM (GMT)
Kit, I'll donate some money when I hget home, I need to change crap in my paypal and all my info for it is in the house.

Eva - December 12, 2007 11:40 AM (GMT)
Thank you to everybody that sent me some of your lovely edible money. Mmm mm. But I ate it.

And by that, I mean we have enough for a few years with a .com domain :)

I'm shopping around looking for the best deal just now - if anybody finds anything let me know and we'll get what we can afford for the longest amount of time so ACW will live on even after we've died.

:)

Anissa - December 20, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
Whoa. Long time no see.

I haven't cast a vote yet, but I had questions before I did.
Would it be continuing where it ended? Like, directly?
Or maybe starting completely anew?
That'd be a twist.

Paz - December 20, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
...The board already opened again.

It started seven months after the last part ended, details on what happened during that time are slowly being provided in bits and pieces.

Aidan - December 27, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)
Strange co-incidence I stumbled upon this...

Hello!

Anyway. I don't actually have a computer at the moment. I'm just home for Christmas. Hopefully in a few days I'll have a macbook though.

So yay.

Re-open.

Kohan - December 27, 2007 10:32 AM (GMT)
Hey Stee!

There's a thing about Aidan...

Aidan - December 27, 2007 11:04 AM (GMT)
I'm slow... aren't I?
