Title: Profiles
Callum - December 23, 2003 01:05 PM (GMT)
I thought it might be a good idea for members of The World to update all their profiles and include whether they're good or evil, what species they are, and maybe list their powers. I don't want to sound pretentious or anything, this is my first post, but for new folks like me, it makes it that bit easier. Hopefully if I pass my audition, I'll be updating my profile with powers and a little bit about my character, and I think it'd be good for others to do it too.

Nice idea Callum, this was already in the pipeline for something we were going to ask members to do, but you beat us to it!
It is up to the members if they wish to do this, but as has been stated, it'll be really helpful to the new people who have no idea who anybody is, and also for the staff who might lose track of things.

I think this is a great idea, being new and all. I've read a lot, but not all, of the story, and since there are so many characters, it's a big difficult to know who's who and what's what.
But that might take away from the mystery. If you meet someone, you know nothing about them, so wouldn't having profiles spoil that who surprise factor a little?

I have thought about the very same thing. When you see a new character it should be like you have never met them. I also think that it would be better if you get pm'ed your powers. That way it's a secret too.

Personally, I like to know who is who. I like to kind of plan what is going to happen next, giving the other player an opening to reveal their power or whatnot. It's a bit more syncronized when people know, you know?

I agree with Chloe. It helps to know what it'll happen if you already know powers and stuff, and plus that way people can't just make stuff up. Like, when I was fighting the Wiccan, she got a new power every post, and I know that she can do that, but the members here can't. So PM'ing would not work.
If you're not good enough to act like you don't already know then it's your fault. The newer members have a right to know what everyone can do, and what their character is like. We shouldn't have to tell everyone everything everytime we meet them.

PMing information like that can get annoying. Just ask Vince. On the other hand, putting said information in the profile is not a bad idea.
::Had already done so a while back.::
Wow. That came out smug. Whatever.

I am new here and I think it is a great idea. I will also do that when I get my powers.

Many members has a little "hint" about their powers. And their avatar too.
Anyway'ums, I dont really think that writing about you're "side"(good, evil etc.)or powers is neccesary....I mean, if you really want to know you can PM the person, or do a little research.
But some people are too lazy to do that *chough me chough*

I just put my characters name, age, and powers in the interest sections of your controls. Age doesnt matter a whole lot but i think it would be nice so you get an idea of how old the characters actually are. That way we dont have older people hitting on younger characters and all that stuff.

I just found this thread and it doesnt look like anyone said much more about it. I think it is a great idea. That way if you miss something you can review their character. Why dont we follow the character bio layout thats used in the library? Its like this:
Name: Cella.
Age: Twenty one!
Species: Warlock.
Powers: Blinking, energy balls, intense bitchery.
Involvements: I am in a relationship with Cole. He just doesn't quite realise that yet. However he seems to have taken a shining to that bitch Moony so I will not rest until I have killed her.
Additional Information: It's tough to be tactic when you're so easily provoked, but I try. I work on setting up traps.
I think that if everyone did this people might not get confused on the characters.
So whadya think?

Ben... please read topics before posting...
Theo; interesting idea, and a pretty good one at that. I'm thinking of taking it a step further and actually letting you post profiles in the forum itself. That way, someone can just go and look whoever up. Let me see what I can do...
Okay I have changed the forum so that you lowly members can now start topics. Profiles should be in alphabetical order. Should.
Knock yourselves out.
Or else...

In light of recent progressions and events, I think it'd be a good idea to remind you all to keep your profiles updates with any new noteworthy developments, including things that have happened between you and other members that might be useful for folk reading up on you. It's just a good way to keep track of what's happened to who.
Thanks.

Okay, this is as much for my benefit... okay, it's completely for my benefit. I've enabled you all to upload files in the Who's Who forum and it would help me greatly if you'd upload and keep up to date your current avatars. This is because, as you know, we like to avatar-swap around here and it's a pain in the arse digging through the avatar thread to find the correct one when it's time to put it back. Cheers, fools.
