Title: Vanquishing Spells
Andrea - January 20, 2004 06:42 PM (GMT)
Just something I have been wondering about, if a character uses a vanquishing spell to kill a demon, how will it work? Because usually The Powers That Be post the result of the spell, but isn't it the norm for somebody to post whether they die or not? I'm pretty sure that, unless in extreme circumstances and while kicking some karma-butt, the Powers don't decide whether somebody dies or not, but if the spell cast is intended to kill someone, who decides if they die or not?

I was wondering the same thing too. Especially since I have a passive power, how can I cause damage to a demon or warlock without getting into physical combat. I dont know about actually killing them but maybe like a potion to replicate Pipers exploding powers.

Already got onto that bandwagon ages ago. Although whether the potion in question works in the desired fashion remains to be seen...

Oh yeah I forgot all about that. But I remember now, all we have to do is clearly state what its for and where and all that good stuff.

Your power isn't a passive one, considering that you willed yourself invisible and all, making it an active one. It's defensive, but it is not passive.
Topic? I've got nothing.

If anything, invisibility is probably the best weapon for hand to hand combat. After all, you can't fight what you can't see.
As for the vanquishing spells, I suppose vanquishing generic characters such as Demon or Warlock isn't the same as vanquishing an ACW member so maybe the rules apply differently. But don't quote me on that.

I just meant passive like its not used to like say TK, or fireballs, stuff like that . Those are active powers mine is a passive one. But I figured we cant vanquish actuall characters but maybe the npc.

Since this is getting off topic, I'm taking this to the Powers thread.

I suppose this should get answered. Damn you Andrea, we hadn't thought about this.
This depends on a lot of factors. The strength of the witch, what the exact potion is, whether it's say an exploding potion or one made to specifically vanquish that demon.
So there are two options.
The potion gets thrown, and the victim decides that they want their character to die. Victim can then post and say, character dies.
The potion gets thrown. The victim does not want to die, so does not post. Then The Powers will make a separate post with the outcome of the potion. Note: This does not mean you cannot die, it is still possible. and we continue from there.
How's that? :D
