Title: Pier

The Powers That Be - February 8, 2004 02:54 PM (GMT)
A small wooden platform stretching out over the water for... god knows what. Getting on boats and fishing? Vanquishing sea monsters? Whatever, just don't break it. And stop having sex underneath it - we can still see you!

Chloe - February 26, 2004 11:51 PM (GMT)
::Chloe swoops down and morphs into her human for a few feet from the pier, landing somewhat unsteadily on her feet. She takes a deep breath, scowling.::

(Ghosts fucking suck...)

::The scowl does not leave as she plops down on the weathered wood of the pier, tearing her shoes and socks off and dropping her feet into the water.::

(This day fucking sucks.)

Dolphin - February 27, 2004 12:24 AM (GMT)
::Poking its head out from the water, the dolphin makes dolphiny noises and nudges Chloe's feet with it's... beak nose guy.::

"Keekeekohaoodsnskisfklshfklsdnklanfldkvjldgvjklnlvbna!!!"

Chloe - February 27, 2004 12:43 AM (GMT)
::Chloe quickly pulls her legs up out of the water in ! shock.::

(HOLY SHIT! Mmm... mind!yelling... and excessive!exclamation points...)

::She lips spread into a weak smile upon realizing the dolphin isn't some man-eating... ummm... what's the... oh! shark.::

"Hey, little guy... What're you doing?"

::She cautiously slips her feet back into the water.::

Shark - February 27, 2004 01:04 AM (GMT)
::Suddenly the dolphin's torso floats above water in a lovely flurry of pink water as the shark's teeth snap right through it. Gnashing its jaws as it devours the flesh of the playful creature, the shark appears to be staring right at Chloe...::

"Nyang nyang nyang!"

::This is so not your day, Chlo.::

Chloe - February 27, 2004 02:03 AM (GMT)
::Chloe squints in confusion. This lasts for all of... let's say... a second. Chloe leans back, swinging her feet out of the water.::

(...refer to last exclamation thought thingy...)

::She quickly stands, loosing her balance temporarily and almost falling into the salty, bloody water. She runs off the pier onto the beach, sobbing in fear and exclaiming all the way.::

"omigodomigodomigodomigodomigodomigod..."

Luke - October 9, 2004 11:26 PM (GMT)
::Luke carries his items to the pier and gets out the candles. He sets them in such a way that it was randomly scattered. He lights the wicks of the candles with his cigarette lighter. Luke picks up the shillelagh, pointing it up in the air. He focuses solely on chanting the spell over and over again, attempting to make it snow.::

"I call right now for early snow,
Fall to the city, not fast but slow.
Make it last for the months ahead,
And descend to Earth in an even spread."

Dolphin - October 10, 2004 11:56 AM (GMT)
::A dolphin leaps in and out of the water playfully, and swims over to Luke, perhaps somewhat used to human contact. Starting to perform various 'tricks', the dolphin spins in the airs and giggles loudly its pleasure at having an audience.::

The Weather - October 10, 2004 11:57 AM (GMT)
::A light shaking of snow begins to fall from the sky, clouds hiding the stars.::

Luke - October 10, 2004 12:18 PM (GMT)
::Luke looks around, amused at the fact that his spell actually worked. Hearing the dolphin's giggle, Luke approaches it and sits at the edge of the pier, just watching it.::

"Impressive."

Dolphin - October 10, 2004 07:06 PM (GMT)
::The dolphin stops jumping around and calls in a crabby, NY-cabbie voice.::

"Yeah? Well gimme a fish or something."

Luke - October 10, 2004 07:35 PM (GMT)
::Luke is suddenly baffled by the talking dolphin.::

(The hell?)

"The hell?! Of course, I really shouldn't be surprised the least bit. Anyway, aren't there enough fish down there, in the, you know, ocean? Let's see here..."

::Luke casts a spell to summon fish for the dolphin.::

"Lord Poseidon, I summon thee,
rise right now from the frigid sea.
Fulfill this dolphin's current wishes,
and give it now some worthy fishes.
Fully fish and not a mermaid,
let them come in big parade."

(I so could I have worded that better...)

Dolphin - October 10, 2004 08:35 PM (GMT)
::The dolphin leaps out of the water, slaps Luke on the head with his tail causing him to fall into the ocean, and swims off chirping various obcenities.::

Luke - October 10, 2004 09:05 PM (GMT)
::Luke falls into the ocean with a moderate splash. His teeth chatter from the combination of the water and the snow falling from the sky. He grabs onto the pier, pulling himself out. He turns in the direction the dolphin swims off towards with his own set of swear words. With all of that done, Luke sits down on the pier, concentrating on a clone to appear.::

Lysander - October 10, 2004 09:18 PM (GMT)
::And if it isn't everybody's favourite nice guy!::

"Gosh, Luke, are you okay? Here - take my shirt."

::Lysander pulls off his white, ruffled shirt and hands it to Luke.::

"You'll catch your death in this weather, which begs the question, why did you do it?"

Luke - October 10, 2004 09:35 PM (GMT)
::Luke grins to his clone, taking the shirt from Lysander and putting it on (after taking off the wet one, of course).::

"Thanks. I was...uh, I was just practicing the witchcraft. Speaking of, I was wondering if I could try something out with my powers which is why I summoned you. I'm trying to see if this trick will work. It'll require you to either being somewhere else or looking in a different direction than me. I want to see if I can see what you can see and vice versa simultaneously. You do know where I'm getting at with this, right?

And whenever you get the chance, could you heal our leg?"

Lysander - October 11, 2004 09:52 PM (GMT)
"Not this time I can't."

::Lysander looks apologetic, then turns his back to Luke.::

"This is what you want me to do?"

Luke - October 11, 2004 10:22 PM (GMT)
"Great. All right. Yeah."

::Luke closes his eyes, trying to see if he can see through Lysander's eyes. He chats to his clone telepathically, his eyes still closed.::

(What do you see?)

Lysander - October 11, 2004 10:37 PM (GMT)
"Isn't it defeating the purpose if I tell you?"

::Lysander looks straight ahead and describes what he sees.::

"I see what I'm facing. Some sand, grass, no ocean since it's behind me and is what you're looking at right now. You don't need to tell me what you see, I'm pretty sure I can guess."

Luke - October 11, 2004 10:44 PM (GMT)
::Luke sighs, opening his eyes and sits down.::

"Hmm. Maybe I'm not concentrating hard enough. Surprised that I was able to conjure up this snowstorm. Let's try a different sense."

::Luke picks up an athame and concentrates on strengthening his link with Lysander. He pricks his right, index finger with the blade, trying to see what would happen to Lysander.::

Lysander - October 12, 2004 02:23 PM (GMT)
::Lysander remains intact, being pretty much a seperate being from Luke.::

"I don't think that's gonna work, Luke. See, I'm a clone of your natural state. That means, no matter how damaged you may be on creating me, when I am 'born' as such, I will be an exact copy of you in a fully healthy body. I am a copy of your cells, undamaged. And once I have been created, until I end, I am seperate from you. If you get hurt, I remain, because I am not you, I am merely a clone. A clone, brother, not a mirror."

Luke - October 12, 2004 02:47 PM (GMT)
"Oh."

::Luke puts the athame down, sucking the small trickle of blood from his finger.::

"I guess you learn something new everyday. So what about seeing what you see? I mean, we can converse telepathically, hearing each others thoughts but can we simultaneously see what you see while you are out?

And speaking of that, what happens with memories? Do yours integrate into mine when you return?"

::He sighs after the series of questions, kneeling down to blow out the candles. Luke looks down to the ocean, burying his head in his hands.::

"Sorry for the questions. It's just that I've gotten into this sudden urge to find out more about me. Something deep and not superficial like our looks, you know? I mean, here we are, thirty years old and I've still haven't accomplished much. Just spending daddy's money like there's no tomorrow."

Lysander - October 12, 2004 03:04 PM (GMT)
::Lysander silently turns around and observes Luke's frame.::

"Let's try again, shall we? Concentrate."

::Keeping his eyes open and concentrating hard on Luke in front of him, Lysander sends the image he sees to Luke's mind.::

"Now tell me; what do you see?"

Luke - October 12, 2004 03:12 PM (GMT)
::Luke gasps for air as the sudden vision startles him. He observes the image transferred to his head.::

"I see you...looking at me...moping around...staring pathetically at the ocean."

::He gets up and turns to his clone, looking at the goosebumps.::

"I think there might be a jacket or an extra shirt in the car. You might want to get something on in this snow. Our...your nipples are hard enough to break through concrete and I can't believe I just said that just now..."

Lysander - October 12, 2004 08:49 PM (GMT)
::Lysander shrugs.::

"Doesn't make a difference to me really, since I'm not real."

::He gazes out to the ocean for a minute.::

"How about we try me showing you moving images, instead of sending you a picture? So you could literally see through my eyes what I see, when I see it?"

Luke - October 12, 2004 09:02 PM (GMT)
"All right. It'll probably be easier if I close my eyes, no?"

::Luke stands at the edge of the pier, closing his eyes.::

(Go ahead.)

Lysander - October 13, 2004 10:29 AM (GMT)
::The clone takes his left hand and slowly moves it in front of his face, focussing on observing every single movement.::

"What am I doing?"

Luke - October 13, 2004 11:16 AM (GMT)
"It's kind of choppy. The transmission. Sort of like when you are looking at a strobe light. Anyway, I see your... left hand moving in front of you."

Carys - October 13, 2004 04:34 PM (GMT)
::Carys walks along the pier towards Luke and Lysander, but stops a fair way from them, wondering what they were doing, and leans against some post...thing. She glances at them both, remembering her encounter with Lenin, her expression slightly nostalgic, yet ashamed at the same time::

(He might've been nice...)

::Relaxing against the pole a little too much, Carys slips and falls onto the wooden decking of the pier, grazing her hand against some broken wood. Wincing, she stands up slowly feeling more dizzy and unfocused, and leans back against the pole whilst continuing to glance occasionally at the two, in an attempted casual way::

Luke - October 13, 2004 04:59 PM (GMT)
::Luke breaks his concentration, hearing someone stumble onto the decking. He turns around, staring at Carys as she regains her composure. Being a bit wary of her, Luke does not approach her.::

"Have you come for a little snack? I would personally like to keep my blood, what with this snowstorm and all."

::Luke grins and looks at the snow depositing to Earth. He takes his athame, slowly walking towards Carys. He stops long before actually meeting her face-to-face, standing beside his "brother".::

"What are you doing here?"

Carys - October 13, 2004 06:04 PM (GMT)
::Carys reddens a little at Luke's first comment and she frowns at him, annoyed that he's made her feel embarrassed. Dropping her eyes, she catches sight of the athame in Luke's hand, and frowns harder::

"What are you doing here with that- that sharp thing?"

::She stands up straight, keeping hold of the pole with both hands to steady herself, and keeps frowning at Luke::

Luke - October 13, 2004 06:20 PM (GMT)
"You mean this?"

::He takes a quick glance at the athame, returning his attention to Carys.::

"Just insurance. I mean, I get that you're all better but you did try to kill me and one of my 'brothers'. Don't want to let my guard down. How do I even know if this human thing is permanent and not some fad that'll wear off conveniently when I'm not looking?"

Carys - October 13, 2004 09:42 PM (GMT)
::Carys eyes widen at Luke's words and she stares at him, her expression unreadable::

"It won't...I'm not evil, you know...I'm not."

::She takes a step towards him, letting go of the pole, and looks at him in earnest::

"You could just...set fire to me or something, and I wouldn't be dead, ok?"

::She takes another few steps closer, her voice soft as if she really wants him to believe her::

"You know?"

::Carys is now only half a foot away from Luke, but her gaze is dropped and her pose vulnerable. She takes a breath as if about to say something, but stops and simply stands there, hoping he'll believe her::

Luke - October 13, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
::Luke takes in this appearance of Carys' supposed vulnerability.::

"All right, then. I believe you. Now, same question: Why are you here?"

Carys - October 14, 2004 06:20 AM (GMT)
::A wave of tiredness suddenly comes over Carys, and she can feel the effects of the alchohol start to slip away::

"Why not? Maybe I like piers. What are you doing out here in the middle of the night?"

Luke - October 14, 2004 10:45 AM (GMT)
"Casting spells and practicing my power. Probably the one time in the day where I can use it so openly in such a public place. Like this little snowstorm. Besides, I think I'm starting to like the ocean."

::Luke takes a whiff of the alcohol on Carys' breath, smirking.::

"Oh...visiting our dear friend Jack Daniels, eh?"

Carys - October 14, 2004 05:06 PM (GMT)
::Carys shrugs at Luke::

"Why not? Drinking is the second greatest pleasure in life. Right?"

::She raises her eyebrows at Luke, and smiles slightly::

Luke - October 14, 2004 05:21 PM (GMT)
"And the first one would be what exactly?"

(Yeah, like I don't know already...)

::Luke smirks to Carys, waiting for her response.::

Carys - October 14, 2004 06:32 PM (GMT)
"What do you think?"

::Carys smiles coyly up at Luke, her tiredness having disappeared in place of a more salacious feeling. Moving even closer to Luke she tilts her head sideways and looks at him mischievously::

Luke - October 14, 2004 08:11 PM (GMT)
::Luke's toothy grin remains, though his voice gets even more raspier and southern.::

"Do you look at all of the guys like this?"
