Title: Good and Evil

Ben - May 27, 2004 06:16 AM (GMT)
I'm having trouble whether I should be Good or Evil. What are the positive and negative points of each, in all of your opinions?B)

Justin - May 27, 2004 07:03 AM (GMT)
Well, Ben, Evil almost certainly guarantees a transportation power and an awesome offensive ability. Being good, however, gives you more of a chance to walk into an entertaining storyline without any real work on your part. In addition, while both characters are equally easy to despise, it's much easier to gain love while being evil, as you limit the drama and acutal emotional connection, or so I've seen. If you choose the side of Good, beware of sucky powers. Bewaaaare. :o

Lirie - May 27, 2004 07:49 AM (GMT)
Like Justing posted before me, Evil almost automatically comes with blinking/shimmering and energy/fire balls. But you shouldn't go evil, unless you truly think that you would make an evil evil character.
For instance take Prieto. She's suppose to be evil, but she's having trouble with that... no offence, Prieto.

On the other hand, if you're good, you have to face the very likely possibility of becoming utterly and thoroughly boring. The sappiness, the conflicts, the awkwardness... blaugh! You always have to do the right thing or else karma will bite you on your ass (like in Luke's case when he lost all his senses).

And finally, just decide to yourself what you prefer to be: hunter or hunted...

Hope it helps :D

Ben - May 27, 2004 08:59 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... hunter or hunted? Now, that choice seems to be interesting, very interesting. So it's either powers or a decent storyline. Lets go for .... ??? Still don't know.

Moony - May 27, 2004 10:51 AM (GMT)
Speaking from the perspective of someone who plays an evil character, only pick evil if you are prepared to work at establishing your character over a set period of time. For example, Moony hasn't really done much since the board was started, it's taken me that long to get things going, but then again, that's my character, she's subtle.

Also, if you pick evil, you will have to be prepared for the possibility of being vanquished.

If you pick evil. Please. Actually do the word evil justice.

Unless, of course, you are my clone, which you aren't by the way.

Not really. You can have both if you play your cards right.

Actually that's not a set rule. The blinking/shimmering is a given but whether any other additional powers are given is up to The Source.

Offence taken
Oh wait it's true! I just can't be a bitch.

Anyway. Good or Evil? Hm. Let's see.
Evil: Always gets transportation powers, but meh. Evil cant go around with a 'Demon and proud' badge( Unlike the bi..um, witches. )
Good: Yeah, well, if you're a good witch everyone will know. Especially at P3.

Oh wait. I didn't help at all. Mwahah.

Um, speak for yourself. Oh wait, you were.

Good powers don't suck, my power, a 'good' power, is one of the most versatile on the game. Likewise with Andrea's TK. Lirie's water thing doesn't suck, its a goddamn amazing defensive power.

Like the others have already said... if you're going to be evil then do it justice. Don't go in there with all guns blazing unless you can work that kind of character. Likewise with the subtle, more insidious evil like Moony.

The Powers That Be - May 28, 2004 01:53 PM (GMT)
Interesting topic and even more interesting responses. It's nice to get some feedback on what you lot are thinking about the way we work here.

I don't know what the general 'good power or good storyline' thing is here. Even if it was true, I'd rather have a storyline than a power. No matter how great your power is, you'll get bored eventually.

But that's not true.

ACW is what you make it. You get what you give. People are rewarded and punished regardless of their powers. Sometimes I even help you out a bit if you're going through a boring phase and give you a random storyline, which gives characters around you storylines as well.

People have been whining about power progressions too, I don't think some of you understand the difference between a progression and development. You yourself can develop your power, not me. Vince is the perfect example of someone whose power has been naturally developing. Petunius, Andrea, Mraz and probably some others who aren't springing to mind are able to develop this way, as long as they don't give themselves 'new' powers.

Petunius, your power is Deflection. We gave you that and told you that to begin with, you could only absorb powers. It's your own fault that that's still the only thing you can do. Understand?

The rest of you, well, it's not a race. Just keep in mind that the ACW Challenge is starting this weekend and there might be a prize...

Patience Brookhaven - May 28, 2004 07:47 PM (GMT)
Hunter or hunted? Well...I've been both...I am both...damn I hate tenses...anyway.
Most new people on the side of good have been getting great powers. Mine rocked all three times I have used it. Being evil also has its advantages...for one...you will more than likely get a transport power. You have the demonic market and you can participate in the Arena willingly...as compared to us witches who can only get kidnapped. If the decision is really hard for you then why not choose to be a human? That way you can even choose to have knowledge of magic...and...I think (Kt correct me if I am wrong) as a human you can still cast spells and scry.

Ben - May 29, 2004 06:12 AM (GMT)
After all of that ::points upwards at the posts:: I think I'll go with the side of good. Maybe ... Evil? Hmm, sounds a bit bad to me. Good? Sounds like you're going to turn into the goody-two-shoes in primary school that allways dobbed you in! Good it is then.

Luke - May 29, 2004 12:20 PM (GMT)
You don't have to be a goody two-shoes if you are good. Luke is far from being a model citizen.

Paz - May 29, 2004 01:07 PM (GMT)
Luke has also had a cosmic smack-down many a time.

If you feel you can be sly, manipulative and very, very bad, be evil. If you can't be that smart, then go for good. I was good, I'm dumb. See, it works!

Awena - June 14, 2004 10:59 PM (GMT)
It is a very hard choice... Can you be good then turn evil?

Paz - June 15, 2004 10:46 AM (GMT)
Ooooh, good question. I too want to know this.

Seeing as Paz just went schitzo evil in the arena I have just discovered it's really fun to be evil, maybe i'll take up this option later.

So, can you? Can you?

Lirie - June 15, 2004 10:49 AM (GMT)
I think there was something about inability of switching sides. But taking Carys' case, it seems it is possible... is it?

Reggie - July 18, 2004 11:28 AM (GMT)
Hunted or Hunter? Awesome power or awesome storyline? All things I have to take into consideration if I pass mt Audition.

Petunius - July 18, 2004 01:28 PM (GMT)
Not necessarily. As it was pointed out before, there doesn't need to be an either/or with regards to good storylines and powers. I really don't see where people are getting these comparisons from. And consequently, someone on the side of good can also be a hunter so it's really not as clear cut as you've put it.

Reggie - July 18, 2004 04:21 PM (GMT)
Oh... hmm so I guess the decision is a lot harder then it really seems to be? I guess there is a lot more to take in then... I'll just read around the board more at everyone's posts and see which side interests me the most. At least then I can get a better feel at what happens to characters on either side.
