Title: New Warning System

The Powers That Be - March 28, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
I've been toying with this idea for a long time, and have recently decided that for the sake of keeping ACW to a high standard, I am going to employ it. There is going to be a new warning system for breaking of the rules. It will be similar to the five strike rule, in that if you get warned five times, you're out.

It's crap coming here and seeing sub-par posting. Rules are broken left, right and center, and no number of PMs or announcements seem to solve that, so I will be taking action. Here is a list of the things we will begin warning for.
  • Constant bad use of format. A mistake here and there is fine, but if you keep doing it wrong, then there's no excuse.
  • Meta-gaming; which is making your character know things that are impossible for them to know, just because you the user know. Also includes taking them to certain locations because of something happening there.
  • Breaking the Timing rule. You guys know how strongly I feel about this one.
  • Constant bad spelling. Enough said. I hate this.
  • Not adhering to the reality rule. ACW operates on the basis that it is based on a (fictional) reality. The real rules of our everyday lives apply. You cannot ignore other members' attacks, nor can you dodge every one. Strive for realism.
  • Abandoning the board without reason.
  • Member bashing. That is, of the serious sort.
  • Controlling the other characters' actions and reactions. You play yourself and only yourself.
This may be added to if I can think of any more. To be honest, if any of you have a problem with this, then you're probably guilty of one or more of the above.

If a warning is issued, you will be notified by PM. If you disagree with the warning, please contact me , kaytee83 about it with details. I will make the final decision.

Warnings may also be removed if you show to improve after a while. Your warnings are viewable only by the staff, and not members.

If you receive five warnings, you will be deemed not ACW material, and asked to leave. And when I say asked, I mean banned.

Comments welcome.

That's fair enough. How about serious member bashing. A joke here and a comment there isn't that big of a deal. But serious manner behaviours and complaints arises from the victim or other by-standers? Can that warrant a warning too?

Amen, sistah.

It certainly can, Nathaniel. I was going to add that, but then I forgot. Ahem. Okay *edits* Cheers.

Oh yay, coolies. And of course not abiding by the Rules set within the Library and the Guidelines, like controlling other characters or using powers other then your own (except maybe with special exceptions) or stuff like that.

Will those warrant a warning too? Or will them be like a PM telling not to do it again and that'd be it like before. But if they do it again then it's the warning or temp ban like the old days before this system? Or will them not abiding by them rules fall into this warning system too?

Luke and I are probably the worst offenders about that. Sorry. *meek* I'll be better in future.

Guh. Stop giving me new things to add. And Trix, I never notice you and him doing it really. The odd comment is fun, if it's... "in jest" ;) but I'm talking proper bullying type shit here.

Trix - March 28, 2005 02:24 PM (GMT)
Ok, I don't think I've ever done that. Good. Carry on.

ETA: And nor's Luke.

Okay okay... I'll stop. I can't think of anything else at the moment anyway. :)

omg Nate got a new name!!11

I think there should specifically be a warning system just for people with the annoying tendency to use the word "ya" repeatedly. It warrants a category all of its own.

If, one day, I'm drunk and in an officious mood, I might go and warn everybody that annoys me. However, that is currently unlikely. ^_^
