Title: Having Two Characters
kaytee83 - April 6, 2005 03:01 PM (GMT)
I'm getting approached by a good many of you asking about having a second character. A select one or two I have said yes to, but the majority receive a no.
After talking with the available staff (I'm impatient!), we have decided to make this an officially 'allowed' practice.
However, there is criteria you need to fill in order to apply to have a second character. And here it is:
- Have a minimum 500 posts - not spam in the OT threads
- Be able to play both characters, building them up properly as believable people, not obviously favouring one over the other
- Be a good user. We're going to be looking at your audition for the new character as well as your previous posts here. If you're not great, then we're gonna say no.
- Acknowledge that you are not allowed to interact with your second character. If we see any evidence of a user playing with both characters to work together, or even meet and exchange more than hello and an attempt to escape the other ASAP, the member risks having one of the characters killed off. This will not be tolerated in the slightest.
There seems to be a sort of idea around here that having more than one character is a
bad thing, and that if you do have more than one, the other is to be kept secret. Well, I want to get rid of that idea. It's not a bad thing to have two characters, it's a bad idea to have two and do a shit job looking after them. The reason I'm so GRR about having two characters, is in the past people have neglected one in favour of the other, abandoned one, and the constant thought that bringing the two characters together would give the user too much power.
Anyway, I think that's all there is to say on the matter. If you'd like to take on a second character, register them and PM me with the audition, as well as who you already play. As I said before, we will be VERY strict on who we let have another character, so don't be too disappointed if you get turned down.
Thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea?

Hmm, it's good guidelines.
I want to point out about the interaction though. Full interaction is bad but I want to make sure that it is clear that both players can be at the same place if their intentions requires it be. But interaction is full unavoidable if someone perhaps don't know the other player has a character and involves them both. For example.
:: Sameth wonders about which magic book he should buy, not being a witch at all, he stops looking and gives a heavy sigh as he turns back to Luke. ::
"Nah, there's nothing here I want."
:: Shinji enters the magic shop, looking for the Wiccan to advise him on a spell he has casted and the result that came with the spell. ::
---
Up to this point, Shinji goes to the magic shop even though Sameth is already there. Although he doesn't talk to them though they are in the same place. So what happens if... For example building on further.
:: Luke sees Shinji enters and waves him over so he can meet Sameth who happens to be new to the craft too. ::
---
I use Luke here as an example. Luke for example doens't know Sameth and Shinji are played by the same player. And this situation makes both my characters meet each other. What happens then? Might not be Luke, might be a person that both character have met over the long course of the RPG game.
I just wanted it to be clear.

Firstly, you avoid your other characters like the plague. After that, if you're forced to meet, you interact as little as possible. Say hi if you must, and move on. Basically, you are to have nothing to do with your other character. Preferably, they would never meet.

My first reaction to this, was '>) Bwahaha!', but then I went to check the other boards and realized, I seriously don't need another character, since I already have three... all different from each other (I really hope so) and still not fully developed. So I think I'll stick with my trans-boarded existence.
Besides, I have a ditz, a rational (can she be considered a 'bitch'?) and a slut. Who else can I create?
kaytee83 - April 6, 2005 03:47 PM (GMT)
What makes you think we'd have let you have another? :P

You can be considered a bitch <_<
You would've *nods* Cause of, you know, my great personality :D
kaytee83 - April 6, 2005 03:55 PM (GMT)
I knew I'd regret saying that. :P

Hee...
Okay, w00t for people and all, but I would really like to know who's playing whom, cause, yknow... I'm paranoid and would constantly think they're watching me, even though I'm not quite sure on who 'they' are...

I forgot to add, if you apply and get knocked back, you're gonna have to wait at least two weeks before trying again. Maybe a month.
